The location was so close to NY City.
The room wasn't clean very well.
First time great service..
Pool area needed picked up.
The view from the top floor. The bed is comfortable.
Front desk is always unprofessional, wether it's the surprise $50 fee that they don't bother to mention, wasn't written while I was booking, nor where there any signage. Don't acknowledge your arrival when dealing with another customer. They seem to have ran out of coffee.
Location and price
People smoking in front of the hotel is bad designated area. Smoking should be moved in the back as small children had hard times passing through with all of the smoke and men with underwear sitting in front of the outside of the hotel at the enterance. It was uncomfortable for my wife and young girls.
Staff across the board were superb, very helpful and genuinely tried to make you happy. Mass trains is right there, and very accessible. This is by far the best place to stay for NYC travelers that don't want to pay the crazy hotel prices in NYC. Lobby offers food, coffee, snacks etc... Tons of parking if you bring a car..
A few things need a refresh....
It was huge and alot of room.
We paid all rhat money for the hotel and had to pay for breakfast
quickness of elevator
wait for check out
the hotel was close to the venue we were going to.
the pool area was less than clean and tidy. it almost seemed forgotten. the hotel was still noisy late at night. I could hear the music of a reception all the way on the 5th floor. I was not happy to pay 30 extra dollars for a mediocre breakfast buffet.
Rpoms were big. We had a view of NYC. Hotel was beautiful
Coffee was like water. Could not get food at night
Bed was comfortable
Bathroom dirty - hotel needs a facelift Would not recommend this hotel. It was overpriced
We opted to stay at the Clarion because they are located so close to NYC and rates are much more affordable. The bed and rooms was always fresh and clean, plenty of towels, rooms service was ok. The hotel room was big enough for us to stay for a few nights. The location is perfect and second to best if your looking to visit NYC but don't want to pay $700 a night.
Was a nice experience, hotel staff were very cooperative and worked with us on helping with transportation amongst other things.
Relatively cheap for New York area, quiet. Fairly clean. Staff helpful. All in all this hotel appears to be in need of refreshing. It's not horrible, seems safe enough, but don't expect everything to be perfect in order.
Fixtures loose, tiles in bathroom loose, water had leaked in at the window one time in the past: paint and plaster not repaired. Mouldy patches at the same window from the leak. Window tinting peeling loose of the windows. Girlfriend witnessed what appeared to be a prostitute being harassed by her pimp in the lobby.
The front desk guy named, Hertz (yes like the car) was great. He was so friendly. He checked us in early. He also answered my various phone calls with questions about bus stops and schedules and if the bus into the city takes cash (yes up to a $20). The hotel was old but for the most part clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was pretty decent for $10 and children under 10 eat free. There was a variety of food to choose from and they also have a little "to go" kiosk as well that is Starbucks affiliated. The hotel, for the price, is very conveniently located so that you can leave your car and take a bus into the city. The bus stop, which is across the street, is just a five minute walk from the hotel. Roundtrip cost $7-children are free and the bus runs on the hour. It takes you right into Port Authority. I liked that you could open the window in the hotel room and let some fresh air in. The hot water was really hot and the shower had decent pressure. Not that I cared about the view, but we did have a nice one with the water.
When I first drove up to the hotel, I said to myself, "OMG, I've booked us into a prison." The hotel is old and is in desperate need of a facelift. The outside was not at all impressive and they are doing construction on the parking garage. The inside is worn and tired too, but for the most part it was clean. Our shower had mold in it. Not a ton, but along the bottom rim inside. And one pane of the glass window was broken with a HUGE crack. I told this to the front desk person, Grace, when I checked out and she kind of blew me off and said, "Thank you for letting us know." No apology. Grace was much less friendly and more gruff than Hertz. I had called this location earlier asking if they had breakfast room service and was told that they did. I did this because my little girl really wanted room service. When I called the next morning, the voice menu tells you there is room service for all three meals but then it connected me back to the front desk. When I asked, "Do you have room service for breakfast?" "No." "But it says...." "I know we have to take that out." There was no apology. The front desk person, who I am assuming was Grace, was very short with us. The tv remote was a pain to operate. If I had not as been so tired, I might have called down to the front desk but I didn't have the energy.
Close to New York. Beutiful views
The Room that I reserved was not the room Iwas given. Also the room was rather musky in scent. Not to happy about that. The Hallways are poorly lit and needs some fresh painting throughtout the entire Hotel.
When we arrived to the hotel it looks like they had given our reservation to someone's else. We did not get the room we chose. The receptionist did not even have the courtesy to let us know before we went to our room. We went upstairs and realized it was the wrong room and had to come back downstairs only to find out they did not have the room available and that the ones they did were not clean and there was no staff to clean them. We reserved an executive King room and received a double bed room for the same price. According to the receptionist the room we got cost more which makes no sense. She was not welcoming or trying to ease the situation at all. Really bad service.
